Who knows to copy designs better than Chinese? Adding one more crib to their list, Ford 150 (one fifty) Raptor is copied by a Chinese firm called Kawei. Named as Kawei K1 pickup truck, the vehicle is copied bit by bit, very precisely. Overall, the build quality is very solid, unlike the other Chinese vehicles which seem to tear apart just after rolling off the showroom. K1 is made available in options of both, diesel and petrol variants. Black net grille, headlamps outline, fog lamp and engine cover, looks the same as of Ford Raptor. However, interiors too aren't negotiated at all; it seems leather on most of components inside. Priced at 100,000 yuan or 16.000 USD, Kawei K1 is making sense for a good pickup truck purchase in China.

Top 10 Chinese Concept Cars At The 2016 Beijing Auto Show 10. Dongfeng HUV Dongfeng has long been looking for a credible off-road cruiser to cash into their army-vehicle fame. The HUV might be just that; a square shaped rough looking truck on large wheels with an almost straight standing windshield. The production version is expected to launch next year, powered by a decidedly petrol four-cylinder engine. 9. Zhiche Auto SUV The Zhiche Auto SUV is a full-electric aerodynamic four-seat coupe, loaded with technologies for connected-cars and connected-mobility, in short tech that allows a vehicle to communicate with other cars and with the wider world. The Zhiche Auto SUV is developed by a Beijing-based new-energy vehicle (NEV) company, and the production car will launch in 2017. 8. Ranz RF-EA1 The Ranz RF-EA1 is a design study for an exciting electric four-door sport sedan, with a super sleek body and eye-catching black over gold paint. ‘Ranz‘ is a brand owned by the FAW-Toyota joint venture for making cheap electric cars. However, since its inception in 2013 Ranz has failed to launch a single car. The RF-EA1 shows they are still alive. 7. Haval HB-02 The HB-02 shows that the Haval brand, owned by Great Wall Motors, is going for a more daring design for its SUV lineup. Sharp creases, tiny LED lights, and a big gaping grille; the HB-02 has it all. It previews a premium compact crossover that will be launched on the Chinese car market in 2018, mainly aimed at young car buyers living in the big cities. 6. Lingyun Two-seater Lingyun is a company that is absolutely convinced the future lies in two-wheeled electric vehicles. Their latest concept is simply called “Two-seater”, and stands on two wheels, one front and one rear. It uses mechanical gyroscopes to maintain balance, and Lingyun claims battery life is 80% longer than on a four-wheel car. 5. Qiantu Auto K50 Roadster China’s first drop-top electric supercar with stunning lines, a carbon fiber body, and powered by a 400 horsepower motor. Likely the best looking Chinese car ever. The coupe version is expected to hit the market in the fall, with a price similar to the cheapest Tesla Model S. The Roadster will follow in late 2017. 4. Chery FV2030 The Chery FV2030 is a typical example of a truly outrageous concept car, shaped like an off-road racer with gull wing doors, huge wheels, and a fiery red paint job. Some design elements will come back on future production cars, like the chrome bar above the grille and the air inlets in the bumper. 3. LeSee EV The LeSee EV is a four-door electric sedan with semi-autonomous driving, smartphone-based remote control, and a 210 kilometer per hour top speed. The LeSee was developed by LeEco, a Chinese internet compact that also backs Faraday Future. It is intended for the Chinese market and the production version will be made in China. 2. Hongqi B-Concept The B-Concept heralds a new beginning for Hongqi, ‘Red Flag’, the oldest and most famous Chinese automaker, best known for state limousines and parade cars. They are working to shore up their passenger car division and the B-Concept previews a future full-size sedan that will compete with cars like the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. 1. Beijing Auto ArcFox-7 The ArcFox-7 is an extremely beautiful electric supercar with scissor doors. It is based on aFormula E race car, and powered by a 603 horsepower motor. The ArcoFox-7 is mainly intended to draw attention to the booming EV business of Beijing Auto, but small-series production of a track day-only car is a real possibility. The main observable trends that emerge from these concept cars are: a move to electrics cars, steps to more daring design, and a clear up market movement, the infamously cheap Chinese cars are fast becoming a thing of the past. Mandarin/Eng/Nat The Beijing Auto 96 car show is attracting huge crowds, hoping to catch a glimpse of mostly unattainable Western luxury vehicles. While still only a fantasy for most, China's booming economy means more people than ever can afford a car. It's one of the many new sights in China. Shapeless proletarian dress is out, and the red on these Ferraris has nothing to do with communism. Not that any of these dazzled onlookers will ever own one. Current sales over 3 years amount to 1 Ferrari for every 60 (m) million Chinese. But in the new China, even if one can't afford such a car, at least now it's okay to want one. And the salesmen are hoping that with time there will be money to match the desire. SOUNDBITE: (English): "Ferrari is like, all over the world, it's the dream car of everybody. And same as China. All people would like to have a dream car like this." SUPER CAPTION: Alex Yip, Assistant General Manager, Marketing, Italian Motors Ltd. This is still the reality for most Chinese. In China there is a saying - the Chinese don't move, they roll, on bicycles, that is. Along with many other things in China, that's changing and the demand for cars is growing. The domestic auto industry has dramatically boosted production, growing at a rate of 25 percent a year for the past five years, according to official figures. Joint Venture vehicles like this Sino-Japanese sub-compact have proved popular, and at around nine thousand U-S dollars compared to 230-thousand dollars for a Ferrari -- it's affordable. But the crowd at the Beijing auto show which closes Monday came to see something new. Foreign luxury and sports cars attracted the most attention from a crowd unused to such excesses of design and power. Often the fashion models hired to drape themselves on the vehicles seemed to draw more attention than the cars. But for many onlookers a leather interior or new dashboard were excitement enough. For many of those looking to buy, the sticker price of even the more modest foreign entries remains prohibitive. For now, they'll hold onto their Chinese cars. SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin) "Frankly speaking, foreign cars are better. Unfortunately, the prices are not realistic for people on a salary like mine. But the cars here are so good, now it's one of my goals to have one in the future." SUPERCAPTION: Liping Wang, Voxpop Time-tested old Chinese brands were also on display. Indigenous makes and joint-venture models certainly received less swooning enthusiasm. But they remain popular with most Chinese car-buyers because of their price and familiarity. While the surging economy has created masses of new wealth, most Chinese will have to wait to buy any car. The average monthly wage according to official figures is still around 45 U-S dollars for urban dwellers, and most of that usually goes to meet basic needs. Only approximately 1 in 500 Chinese currently own their own car. Despite this, optimism is running high. SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin) "I don't think it's only a distant dream for Chinese people to have their own cars. For example, I'm a student and I think that after graduating and working a few years I'll have my own car." SUPERCAPTION: Yi Liu, Voxpop From all signs at the car show, China's next generation feels right at home behind the wheel. They might need a little practice obeying seatbelt laws, but they seem to have figured out how everything else works. And they may be the first generation in China which grows up knowing more about driving cars than riding bicycles. Mandarin/Eng/Nat All the key players in the automobile industry are taking part in the week-long International Auto Show in Beijing, positioning themselves in the race to corner the blossoming Chinese market. The Auto Show has drawn thousands of consumers from all over the country, but for most of them the glistening models on show are well beyond their pockets. On the second day of the China's International Auto Show in Beijing, thousand of Chinese consumers flocked into the exhibition hall. Few of them can afford the cars on displayed here from automotive giants around the world. Most said they have plans to buy at some stage, but not this year. Cars are considered to be a reflection of wealth and status among Chinese. With emerging waves of successful businessmen, more and more luxury cars can be seen on the streets. China's automobile industry is still suffering from high tariffs for imported cars and car purchase duties. But the government is poised to slash car taxes. And China is about to enter the World Trade Organisation (W-T-O). Both of these factors should cause car prices to fall, boosting consumer demand. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I think Chinese consumers are going to see prices go down. On things like automobiles, for example, I think prices will go down somewhat. There'll be more international firms coming in to China to manufacture things in China, to employ more Chinese employees. I think WTO is going to be a real shot in the arm for the Chinese economy and for the Chinese people." SUPER CAPTION: Jim Sassar, former U.S. Ambassador to China and now the adviser of Ford Motor Company With China's huge population, the industry enjoys markets diversity. Domestic car manufacturers have been quick to take advantage of this, and sell a wide variety of vehicles from vans and city cars to military jeeps. Foreign companies are offering more affordable cars, hoping to tap into the savings of millions of potential Chinese customers. With the average income put at 600 U-S dollars per year, cars with price tags like this new Volkswagen are still off limits to most buyers. SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin) " I am just a small businessman and the income is just around 30-thousand yuan (4- thousand U-S dollars), so maybe I still need to wait around 3 years to buy a car." SUPER CAPTION: Mr.Kong, a visitor from Shandong province General Motors is hoping that customers won't have to save up for this long. They've slashed the price of Buicks by 20-thousand yuan (2-thousand-500 U-S dollars). Although most car makers expect sales in China drop further this year, they are confident that the Chinese market will blossom when the country enters the W-T-O. The first test of such bus is planned to start trail operation in Qinhuangdao City, north China's Hebei Province, in the second half of 2016. The expo is held from May 18 to 22.

Mandarin/Eng/Nat XFA China's premiere International Auto Show opened in Beijing on Tuesday with the world's leading car makers vying for attention in the world's largest consumer market. With China's entry to the World Trade Organization (W-T-O) expected before the end of this year foreign and domestic auto manufacturers are positioning themselves in a race for top place in China's competitive car industry. Automotive giants from around the world put their best vehicles on show in the Chinese capital of Beijing on Tuesday before thousands of potential customers. Car manufacturers are targeting their sales efforts at private car buyers in China with models specially designed and competitively priced. A Chinese-Korean joint venture with Kia Motors Company grabbed attention with a family car, unveiled only a few days before the show, which carried a price tag of U-S 11,084 dollars. Brand recognition carries a powerful symbol of quality in China where the auto industry is in its infancy and the right combination of name, style and price could be a formula for success. With the potential of reaching literally millions of sales and unimaginable profits, many foreign companies are hoping to grab a slice of the cake. Swedish auto maker, Volvo, is one such company hoping to capture a big slice of China's automotive market -- but executives see some bumps on the road ahead. SOUNDBITE: (English) "We're hopeful that within the year they will enter W-T-O. But we are also realistic. There is a local industry to protect, there are jobs and livelihoods to protect, so we except the opening to be slow. But the important thing is there is opening, there is an urgency to open, there is an urgency to allow the world and free competition to come in." SUPERCAPTION: Ong Eng Seong, Volvo Greater China Vice President Not to be outdone by aggressive European marketing, American auto giants like Ford and General Motors introduced their own versions of a "people's car" at competitive prices and with a dash of high technology. Shanghai General Motors hopes to wow customers with their e-concept car which allows users to cruise the Internet, shop for groceries and read and respond to Email while on the road. Chinese consumers appear to be torn between patriotic pride and pragmatic economics. SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin) "If I compare, I like to buy imported cars for sure. The best Chinese cars are not as good as imported cars and I don't have blind faith in things foreign." SUPERCAPTION: Mr. Wong, Vox Pop However, even with the support of many domestic consumers, foreign auto makers have seen sales in China drop this year, as Chinese consumers wait for new models and the lower prices expected after Beijing joins the W-T-O. Chinese consumers expect W-T-O membership will cause car prices to fall by 50 percent, so buyers are waiting for a better deal. China's auto industry suffers from too many inefficient producers and even the better-tuned foreign-invested car makers, like the GM and Volkswagen ventures, often face price-raising fees. Entry to W-T-O will force China to drop tariffs and make the domestic industry compete with cheaper imports.
